Videos for asylum seekers about the asylum process
From an article by Right to Remain
Right to Remain publish a Toolkit which is a guide to the UK immigration and asylum system. It gives an overview of the legal system and procedures, with detailed information on rights and options at key stages, and actions an asylum seeker can take in support of their claim, or for an advocate to help someone else.
As an extension of the Toolkit, they have launched videos in many languages about the UK asylum system to help people understand their rights at crucial stages of the asylum process.
The UK asylum process is complicated and confusing, and it is very important that people understand what they will experience, what they need to do, and what could come next.
The Right to Remain Toolkit already helps tens of thousands of people with this each month – but these animations make the information about the legal process even more accessible to people who don’t read English.
The videos, which are a joint project between Refugee Info Bus, Right to Remain and Sara Khayat Art Work, cover four key stages:
-
An introduction to claiming asylum,
-
The asylum screening interview,
-
The asylum substantive (big) interview and
-
After a refusal of your asylum claim.
The videos are available in; English, Arabic, Amharic, Oromo, Tigrinya, Kurdish Sorani, Farsi, French and Pashto.
