Powerhouse - a house which is 100% off-grid
PowerHouse is India’s first solar powered, ready-to-move-in, eco-friendly, smart home. Built to last, it comes pre-fitted with electrical and plumbing systems that can be controlled remotely. For £18,000, buyers can have clean energy for their home and e-vehicle, free for life.
Precision engineered, the house is designed and built the way cars are built in controlled environments, and delivered to a site. The 370 sq.ft./34.4 sq mt house has one bedroom, one bathroom and a living room/kitchen.
Finished with maintenance free, long lasting materials, it is steel framed with insulated exterior siding and zero maintenance interior PVC panels with sound and thermal insulation. The roofing has asphalt shingles laid over cement boards, on a mild steel truss. The ceiling below that, is insulated too. Solar panels are fitted over this sturdy roofing system. The heat trapped in the gap between the ceiling and the roof is thrown out using a clever ventilation system. SPC flooring in the form of wooden planks, cover both rooms, and is laid over a 16 mm cement board.
The house generates its own power, stored in batteries, and can be 100% off-grid. It has a socket to charge e-vehicles. All the the electrical works and the plumbing works are done at the factory, and connected to on-site electrical (optional) and disposal systems.
Powerhouse is the result of collective effort across nations - USA and India.
