A young Mexican boy comes of age – for better or worse – in his quest to save his beloved pet goat from a debt collector.
In a small village outside Tijuana, a young Mexican boy named Victor lives with his father and beloved pet goat, Isabel. But when his father’s debts catch up with them, they are given an ultimatum: payment in full, or the collectors take Isabel, and turn her into goat stew. As the situation escalates, Victor comes of age–for better or worse–in his quest to save Isabel’s life.
The Salvation Army’s short film LA DEUDA is now released on YouTube.
Entirely in Spanish (but with English subtitles), and featuring an all-Mexican cast, the film is inspired by Jesus’ Parable of the Unmerciful Servant, and underscores the importance of prayerful waiting, and extending to others the same forgiveness Christ has given us.
