Who are you called to share Good News with?
From a story by KC Underground
KC Underground in Kansas City exists to equip and empower ordinary people to flourish in their souls and family, spilling over into mission where they live, work, learn, and play. They want to see a missionary on every street and micro-church in every network of relationships so that every woman, man, girl, and boy in KC has repeated opportunities to see, hear, experience, and respond to the Gospel.
It takes ordinary people to do this but who are you called to? How do you find your context?
When Ann asked the Holy Spirit to whom she is called to bring Good News, the answer was clear.
As I began to learn more and to pray into this whole idea of being an ordinary missionary and the idea of saturating Kansas City with the good news and love of Jesus, I began asking Jesus, "Where are you at work and how can I join you?"
The Lord gave me a picture of widows that are sitting behind closed doors. That is very close to my heart because I've been a widow - sitting very alone behind a closed door. And so God put that burden, that calling on me.
He said that the Holy Spirit will draw me to the women that are sitting behind those closed doors and it's happening.
For example, one particular day when I was sitting with a lovely, lovely lady. Somehow our conversation took us to church and being raised in the church. So I asked, "Did you ever sing some of the traditional hymns because I grew up in the church and sang." She just perked right up. And I said, "Well, why don't we try one? We'll, just sing acapella here." And so we spent an hour singing to the best of our ability. She remembered the words.
We sang, 'All hail the power of Jesus name', 'Crown him with many crowns', 'Go tell it on the mountain'.. Goodness, I could go on and on. Before I visit with my lovely ladies, I ask the Lord, I ask the Holy Spirit, You take the lead. It was just a beautiful time together.
The Holy Spirit nudges and encourages me and says continue in prayer because we honestly I don't know. I think the Holy Spirit has me in that place of saying listen, spend time with me and then I will take you to those closed doors.
