Relationships Australia. What does it take to build a strong neighbourhood?

Sometimes it is a council-led initiative reaching thousands of households. Sometimes it is one resident putting a bookshelf on their verge.

In this episode, Relationships Australia bring together two very different scales of neighbourly action to share how you can create communities where people genuinely feel they belong. Ngaire Trigg from Very Neighbourly Organisation Townsville City Council in Queensland shares how a long-standing council relationship with Neighbours Every Day has grown into practical tools such as cobranded connection cards and neighbour-contact fridge magnets. Jody Moate, a community volunteer connected to three Very Neighbourly Organisations — Pasadena Community Centre, Pasadena and St Marys Action Group, and the Little Library on Lloyd Street in South Australia — shares what it looks like when neighbours simply decide to start something themselves. Together, they show that belonging grows at every scale, from council chambers to front verges.
