Accessible Church 1 Day Conference - Bristol
@Woodlands Church, Woodland Road, Bristol, BS8 2AA
Additional needs are wide ranging and include anything that prevents someone from participating in an activity, such as physical disability, mental health needs, illness or undiagnosed needs. We want to make sure our church communities are places which recognise and welcome the value of what everyone brings to God’s kingdom; helping every individual to contribute. Part of creating an accessible church can also involve working alongside individuals such as those who are ex-offenders, or have abused substances and may be rough sleeping. Some of the seminars within the conference will enable us to explore this This one day conference will empower church leaders, volunteers and communities to make church more accessible and inclusive for individuals with additional needs. The day will include both teaching and practical application as well as ideas for how to make your local church accessible for all children, youth and adults.

More Than Welcome Training - Wakefield
@Trinity Church: St Mary’s Room Church Street Ossett WF5 9DW Wakefield
This course will train your church respond to the challenge of disability. Whether it’s members of the youth group who have autism, older people with sight or hearing loss, people with learning disabilities or families struggling to care for a relative with dementia, every church has members affected by disability. Together we will explore what it means to become a church where everyone can belong – one that doesn’t just welcome disabled people, but includes them within church life, and encourages them to grow and participate. We will be discussing questions like: What does the Bible really say about disability? What are the barriers that prevent disabled people coming to your church? How can we develop our prayer, worship and teaching to be more inclusive? What would that look like? How can we ensure that disabled people’s gifts are recognised and encouraged?
